8/8/07 i haven't written a book before, but that didn't mean that i didn't want my book cover on display in one of the windows of powell's. so, today, i made it happen. the easy way.

8/3/07 well, a few weeks ago i stopped in a parking lot where some crackheads were selling VHS tapes for a dollar apiece. they claimed to have 10,000 movies. i spent eleven dollars, mostly on workout tapes. here's what i've done with them so far. or, if you were at holocene last week for matt and genevieve's nightclubbing party, you may have seen some of these same clips there.

7/30/07 i went and saw daft punk last night. it was like going to see an indoor fireworks show indoors with techno and with lights instead of fireworks. i think it was the loudest place i've ever been. here's a video of some of it, the youtube-est video i've ever put on youtube. daft punk is the two dudes in the middle of the tv screen pyramid.

7/6/07 hey, i have a picture of a bird in the grass hut's "the new birds" group show. it's a benefit for the portland audobon society, and the opening is tonight! from six to nine p.m. it'll be up all month. probably i'll put a picture of my painting on dickbird.org soon.

6/6/07 i'm going on my first trip for work today. i am flying to canada to play a video game for an hour and a half, then coming back. see you soon!

6/4/07 last week was big-time. in one day, seth and gina opened their bar. it's called north and it's at 50th and division, it is awesome. check it: i'm there right now. and if that wasn't enough, on the same day, i finally rode the portland arial tram. what a day.

5/27/07 here's something fun i learned to do from driscoll. put white-out and marker on the front page of the new york times and make tragedy into comedy! action into comedy! touching human-interest into comedy! the drawback is: much of it is in extremely poor taste, and not funny. check it out.

5/22/07 man, 3 weeks of joblessness went by so, so fast. i didn't manage even to clean my room or accomplish my other goal. i did, however draw a couple things. video

4/30/07 i graduated school holy crap. aside from a bit more work on our group portfolio book thing, i'm done holy crap. congratulations to me. maybe i'll see you sometime. here is the second installment of the 12 body report, one of my final school projects.

2/28/07 you know those videos where a bunch of people say the same thing and it's all cut together like they're saying it in unison? like in credit card ads, or whatever? i made one of those.

1/29/07 i went to visit my man stevebobby at stanford this weekend, and with his help realized a vision. the door status meter. i don't think it's the last one i'l build.

1/7/07 Happy new year! Well, I finally put up the pictures of the rest of 06's Holiday NeckBeards. Way to go, everyone. Another year of growth for the tradition and for hair. Let's do it again in 07!!!

12/23/06 12 is recruiting for next year! just like all years of 12, next year should be strange and different. look at a video about 12! read comments on the video to learn some ways to hate 12! also congratulations to all this year's fabulous NeckBeard people. the tradition continues to grow, inducing pride everywhere. i will show you some more pictures soon.

11/14/06 SKIDMARK plays tonight at Voodoo Doughnut!! the full lineup will be there (drum machine, guitar, drummer, two bass players) on top of the bathroom. there are two new SKIDMARK pictures on the SKIDMARK photos page from the last time we played there. we'll be on at about 9:30!!!!

11/10/06 the dickbird store is open! buy some stuff! also: all three of my bands are playing this week, including the ones that have been dormant for a long long time! come see fells acres tonight, or SKIDMARK on tuesday or birds of prey on next staturday! really, come by.

11/10/06 maybe i've already told you that i like the place where i'm going to school. well, anyways, on wednesday the whole agency was sent an email that said this:

"This Friday we are all leaving the office by 2:05 sharp and heading over to Lloyd Center Cinema to watch the movie Borat at 2:30. This is a mandatory field trip for everyone so please do not schedule any meetings during this time.

There will be more reminders sent out tomorrow and Friday.

See you there."

10/31/06 I tried the thing where you paint something on top of a painting you buy at goodwill. it was fun, and i think i'll try it again sometime. i also might try taking better pictures of this one.

10/26/06 how do you spell glory? i spell it B-L-O-W-H-O-L-E. Blowhole: The Hole won best in show last night at the Holocene's 3rd annual mini golf invitational. here is a picture of the money we won. here is a link to the internet notice thing that matthew made.

10/18/06 i did some more learing on the video programs, and beck made an album. this!

10/17/06 congratulations to the state of Alaska, which will be participating in the HNB tradition for the first time this year! and listen here to what's playing on the radios up there! huzzah!

10/4/06 hello! my classmates and i have an art show opening tomorrow night at Powell's Books. the gallery is on the third floor and there will be wine. the show is called brandland, and it is enjoyable! come by! here's the flyer!

9/28/06 oh, crap- i just found out that my @dickbird.org emails hadn't been getting forwarded to me. there were some old ones on there. thanks for writing. and on another crappy note, my camera died this week. here's the last picture it took, of an awesome sign about a dog.

9/10/06 maybe i told you something about that magazine that we were working for at school? well the magazine came out, and they also made a little documentary on us that you can look at here. i have been having a good weekend.

9/4/06 once in a while you get a pretty good idea while you're in the bathroom. i wouldn't say that it happens every time, or even every other time, but i think the odds are still increased at least a little bit. and so, you know, i think it is good to make a habit of it.

8/31/06 someday i'll tell you how well the holocene thing went the other night besides just saying that it was awesome. tonight, though, is last thursday and something i made is going to be a part of a group art show at random order. come by for looking at stuff and booze!

8/27/06 dj gay ipod has a gig at the holocene this tuesday, the 29th! come see dj gay ipod in it's first act in quite a while, and support dancepod at the same time! yes!

8/19/06 i have been learning some new softwares lately, and they are making me be able to do new things with moving pictures. here is one of my great early successes with this. it will take a while to load but once it does, it will be totally worth it.

8/1/06 in a burst of productivity, i took 2 pictures with my camera over the last 4 days. look at them, and try to see how one of them is tricky!

7/29/06 sometimes i see people i know and they ask me, "what are you doing at school lately?" well, this week has been a pretty normal one.

7/24/06 and then i found another nice sign! don't ask.

7/19/06 i have posted some pictures of signs. do not ask why.

7/13/06 did i tell you about that pushpin thing we did at school? the mural? you can watch a video about it here, and look at some pictures of it here. and words here. i forgot my telephone at home today, so i'll catch up with you later.

6/26/06 it's not often that www.dickbird.org talks about something sad. but it does happen. Chester the dog died this year. R.I.P. Chester.

6/12/06 remember forever ago when i said that there would be some stuff i made available for looking at at the Random Order coffeehouse? well they're not there any more, but you can now see some of them here, on the internet.

6/5/06 hi there! i've got a new favorite phrase. it's "i enjoy pop culture but don't consider myself shallow.com." it's not actually a website, but i like saying "dot com" at the end of it. i believe it's replacing "ding dong" as my favored phrase, if only for the moment. i still like the word "balls" a lot, and honestly the new phrase is probably a bit wordy to ever hope to take the place of something as timeless and classic as "balls." anyways, here are a couple things i've done with the new phrase. some other things have been happening too. i'd like to show you some pictures of the rafting i did last week. also, did you know that i turned 30 years old two weeks ago (this wednesday)? 30 feels fine so far. ok!

5/8/06 yo! SKIDMARK is playing at Voodoo Doughnut on wednesday, near the end of the day. at about 10 pm. you can never really know how these things are going to go. however, if you were to take all the clues and extrapolate from them what the night might hold, you would probably reach the same conclusion i have come to. namely, that it is going to be awesome.

2/26/06 hi! i'm going to be hanging some stuff i made up at the Random Order coffeehouse this thursday (oh crap that's tomorrow) come check it out! if you can't make it on thursday it'll be there for about a month. here's a doodle i just did about the opening. sorry if it's gross to you. here's Random Order's website.

4/23/06 school's keeping me super busy. but i'm having a good time. in fact, the other day we did the tour of portland's shanghai tunnels. if you've ever been on that tour you know that it's super cheesy... that doesn't mean there's nothing to learn from it. here's a summary of what we learned: block to block featuring MC Tweezy. oh hey also we've made our first thing as a class. it's a poster for a boxing thing coming up at the building where ad people fight eachother. we screen printed the poster right in my room and it came out good.

3/23/06 i quit my job yesterday.

well, as i predicted, the SKIDMARK show at Voodoo Donut was an immense success. after a ground breaking show like that one, a few people always ask me "hey, richard, what are you going to do now? you have conquered the music world, and all of its subjects are prostrate at your feet. are you done with music?" it is a valid question. but no, i am not finished yet. in fact, Birds of Prey are going to play tomorrow. thanks and props to the organizer of the event, mr. Scrappers Morrison. also, check what the mercury has to say about it: words. and on saturday Fells Acres will play at the Artistery. thank you.

3/21/06 you might be aware already that SKIDMARK is playing tomorrow at Voodoo Donut. it's their weekly event, "Club Donut." have you seen the stage area they have up near the ceiling? we'll be on there. 4 of us. with drums. we start at 10 o'clock. come by for some rock and a donut! and if you're not already fired up, go to the SKIDMARK photos page and check out the brand new, double-T hott photos just put on there. good lord.

3/18/06 next week is going to be very busy for my ass, musicwise. check out the details to the right over there. SKIDMARK is playing at Voodoo Donut on the 21st, Birds of Prey at ACME on the 24th, and Fells Acres at the Artistery on the 25th! each of these shows is going to be extremely fun. and badasssssss.

3/14/06 i turned in my official letter of resignation to the hospital today. wow.

3/2/06 i went to missouri a little bit ago, here is some stuff i did and saw.

2/25/06 god damn, next week is going to be busy! check it out: back to back SKIDMARK shows, on 2/28 and 3/1, and then on 3/2 Fells Acres and Birds of Prey are playing at the tonic. this is as easy as i can make it for you to come see music. if you can't make it to any of these shows please contact me and i will set something else up.

2/20/06 well, it's officially official. i made it into wk12. i am super, super excited to be about to do this, and excited on top of that to be doing something i'm excited about. some info about the program can be found here. also check out my application.

2/17/06 the party is at: 3828 N. Commercial. thanks, scott! we're going to be playing early, at like 8 or so! wear your underwear! (only!) (who decided to have an underwear party in february? i don't know.)

1/23/06 SKIDMARK is having its first show off of mississippi street on Saturday, January 28th at Valentines. if you've not been to Valentines, then this show will be worth it just for that. I will not be at this show, due to pressing business. come to the show to see who the special guests will be: Gus Van Zant? the crackhead who stole your bike off the front porch? i'm not telling you anything except that it will be well worth your evening.

10/29/05 dickbird.org was down for about a week. so was the host's website, and nobody was answering their phones. when i finally reached someone, they told me that everything was down because of hurricane wilma! having your website go down because of the weather is strange in a way i haven't put my finger on just yet.
